CHCS and BPJPH Officially Sign Mutual Recognition Agreement to Promote International Halal Certification Cooperation
Jakarta — The Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Produk Halal (BPJPH) of the Republic of Indonesia has expanded its international halal recognition by signing a series of strategic cooperation agreements with halal institutions from the Philippines, Mexico, and the People's Republic of China. This step reinforces Indonesia's position as a key actor in the global halal standards architecture while strengthening the compatibility of the Indonesian Halal Product Assurance (JPH) system in the international market.
The signing ceremony, held at the BPJPH office in East Jakarta on Friday (February 27, 2026), included Recognition Agreements (RA) with four Foreign Halal Institutions (LHLN). Among these, CHCS (China Halal Certification Shanghai Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen One Gate Halal Centre successfully secured this international mutual recognition. The other signatories were the Halal Development Institute of the Philippines, Inc., and Aseguramiento Halal, S.A. de C.V.
Head of BPJPH, Ahmad Haikal Hasan, stated that this expansion of recognition is part of a strategy to strengthen the harmonization of Indonesian halal standards with various global trading regions.
"This cooperation demonstrates that Indonesian halal standards are increasingly integrated into the global trade ecosystem. Cross-border recognition is key to facilitating the flow of halal products, providing business certainty, and expanding market access for industry players," he said in Jakarta on Friday (February 27, 2026).
According to him, the RA is a strategic instrument to create easier access for products between countries through a mechanism of mutual recognition based on credible and verified certification. With this recognition, the export-import process for halal products becomes more efficient as businesses do not need to undergo repeated certification procedures in each destination country. This ultimately reduces costs, accelerates product time-to-market, and enhances industrial competitiveness.
Through this expansion of international recognition, BPJPH hopes to establish an increasingly standardized, transparent, and interconnected global halal trade system. Furthermore, strengthening this global recognition network reflects international market trust in Indonesian halal certification, expands the export penetration of national products, and ultimately strengthens the competitiveness of the Indonesian halal industry on the international stage.
For CHCS, this successful signing with BPJPH marks not only high-level official recognition of its certification system by the Indonesian authorities but also paves the way for smoother access for Chinese halal products certified by CHCS into the Indonesian market and the broader international arena.
This agreement further highlights CHCS's professionalism and authority in the field of halal certification, representing a significant milestone in its journey towards internationalized services and globally aligned standards.
