Head of BPJPH: "2026 is the Year of Halal" – CHCSSH Partners with Authorities to Welcome Indonesia's Halal Industry Revival
Jakarta – The Head of Indonesia's Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH), Ahmad Haikal Hassan (affectionately known as Babe Haikal), has emphasized that 2026 will mark a pivotal turning point for the revival of Indonesia's halal industry. This declaration aligns with the mandatory halal certification policy set to take effect in October 2026 and the maturing ecosystem of Indonesia's halal industry.
Haikal: "2026 is the Year of Halal Food"
Speaking at a national coordination meeting in Kemayoran, Jakarta, on March 2, 2026, attended by hundreds of leaders from Halal Product Processing Assistance Institutions (LP3H) across Indonesia, Ahmad Haikal Hassan stated unequivocally: "2026 is the Year of Halal Food." He stressed that positioning the October 2026 halal mandate as the "Year of Halal Food" aims to strengthen Indonesia's halal ecosystem, transforming the country not just into a consumer market for halal products but into a global hub for halal food production.
CHCSSH Believes This Goal Has a Solid Foundation
CHCSSH asserts that this objective is grounded in reality. Indonesia possesses the world's largest Muslim population, abundant natural resources, a robust sector of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and comprehensive policy and regulatory support. As a mutually recognized partner of BPJPH, CHCSSH leverages this recognition mechanism to provide domestic and international enterprises with halal certification services that seamlessly align with official standards, thereby accelerating their integration into Indonesia's halal ecosystem.
"Indonesian Halal Food is for the World"
Haikal further noted: "Indonesian halal food is not just for Indonesians; it is for the world. We want our halal products to become a global quality standard and be competitive in the international market." This vision strongly resonates with the current reality where halal food has transcended purely religious boundaries. As a quality benchmark, halal is emerging as an engine for economic growth, driving industrial expansion, trade, investment, and job creation. Notably, non-Muslim countries are also beginning to reap the benefits of the burgeoning halal industry.
CHCSSH Helps Enterprises Access the Global Halal Market
By leveraging its mutual recognition relationship with BPJPH, CHCSSH helps enterprises not only meet Indonesia's domestic mandatory certification requirements but also use Indonesia as a springboard to access the global halal market.
Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration to Build a National Halal Industry Ecosystem
To better fulfill this role, BPJPH will continue to encourage collaboration among ministries, agencies, local governments, businesses, and relevant stakeholders to strengthen the national halal industry ecosystem. Specific efforts include:
Accelerating the halal certification process and reducing the time required for businesses to obtain certification.
Enhancing education and capacity-building for enterprises, particularly MSMEs.
Boosting the competitiveness of Indonesian halal products in the international market.
Through its mutually recognized status with BPJPH, CHCSSH will continue to provide efficient and authoritative halal certification support to food companies, raw material suppliers, and related service providers. We look forward to welcoming the "Year of Halal Food" in 2026 and assisting Indonesia in becoming a global leader in the halal food industry.
